In January I had a night out in Manchester with my lovely Sister, and we attended Art Battle Manchester, it was AMAZING!!!
What is Art Battle Manchester? It is a live event held in Manchester; 10 artists create a masterpiece in only 30 minutes. The live audience circulate the action and watch the art evolve. The audience then vote for their favourite creation, and decide which artist should progress to the grand finale. The atmosphere is electric, and it’s such a fun evening. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to give the 30-minute creation process a go, hence my 30-minute Friday drawing challenges.
Usually, my drawings can take anything from 2 to 7 hours to complete depending on size and complexity, so to only get 30 minutes to create 42x60cm drawing is definitely a challenge. My social media followers get to decide what animal I draw, and the progress is filmed a posted-on Friday evening for everyone to see.
The filming side is actually proving more of a challenge then the drawing its self. I’m not the most technical person, and haven’t had much practice with filming so it’s all a massive learning curve for me. I know that persistence will pay off, and the more I do the better the videos will be. I have actually fallen in love the energy that I can put into these 30-minute pieces. It might sound silly but I feel that they hold a little bit of me in them. I am quite an active, bubbly and sometimes loud person, so I feel these pieces definitely capture that side of my personality, plus I love being pushed out of my comfort zone it keeps things exciting. I’m even thinking it might be fun to do a live social event one Friday evening. Maybe even do a draw along challenge where you guys can join in. What do you think? Would this be something you would be interested in?
If you would like to follow these drawing challenges you can find me on any of the social media pages listed below.
